Remembering Determine: A Reggae Luminary's Journey and Legacy

The reggae community mourns the loss of Rohan Alexander Bennett, professionally known as Determine, who passed away on February 13, 2025, at the age of 52, after a battle with stomach cancer. Born on March 4, 1972, in Annotto Bay, St. Mary, Jamaica, Determine's passion for music was evident from a young age. He began his career performing on local sound systems, quickly gaining recognition for his distinctive voice and compelling lyrics.

In 1995, Determine's collaboration with Beenie Man on the track "Kette Drum" propelled him into the international spotlight, solidifying his status in the reggae and dancehall scenes. Throughout his career, he was celebrated for his authentic sound and unwavering commitment to the genre. Beyond his musical achievements, Determine was a devoted father, leaving behind five children, including his son Romario Bennett, known in the music industry as Runkus. His legacy continues through his family and the indelible mark he left on reggae music.
